RADIOTHERAPY FUN (BURN BURN BURN) - was written for Dr Dunlop and his team especially the nurses on Linear Accelaerator One!

OPERATING THEATRE ROCKERS - was written for Mr Edge, Col Bryant and Mr Avery not forgetting all the wonderful nurses - especially a certain Peg Chapman who always treats me like visiting royalty!

NURSE NURSE - for all the wonderful nurses who do such a difficult job under difficult circumstances, for little pay and even less consideration from some impatient patients.

LIFE IS JUST A PHASE - originally from the CD Burn My Bridges and a response to a fairly turbulent time after initial diagnosis and  surgery.
 

OKAY LET'S BE SERIOUS FOR A MINUTE - BUT NOT A SECOND LONGER

 

      I've had oral cancer three times in the last five years. I refer to myself now as acancer veteran. I underwent

major surgery with over 14 hours in the operating theatre to remove half my jaw and rebuild it with a

chest flap. I have had a tumour lazered away and recently underwent four weeks of pretty tough

radiotherapy. I've had at least ten minor operations under general anaesthetic for biopsies. BUT I am a

very lucky man and I know it! I am a survivor and I have been brilliantly treated by the team at

James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

 

      I know what cancer is all about. My mother and mother in law, and sister in law have

all had breast cancer and another sister in law also has cancer. My father had

prostrate cancer and a close friend has been diagnosed with terminal skin cancer.

My best friend's father died of lung cancer - I could go on but I guess the picture is pretty clear.

Cancer is with us all, all the time.

 

The aim of this single is....

1.      To raise awareness of mouth cancer. Mouth cancer kills one person every 3 hours in the UK because of late detection.

2.      To promote the Mouth Cancer Foundation who support patients and generate awareness of the cancer.

3.      To support mouth cancer patients in hospital who may not be aware how many of us are out here - not only surviving but thriving. I was told I would never speak again let alone sing.

4.      To support all cancer patients and give them a laugh - goodness knows they need one. Surgery and radiotherapy just need to be lightened up a little. (I would have written about chemotherapy but I haven't had that (yet) and I'll stick to what I know.)

5.      To support the MacMillan Cancer Nurses and the excellent work they do and encourage people to raise money on their behalf - or just give.

6.      To support Cancer Research UK.
